Strength & Conditioning / Physical Training
Perhaps the aspect of training that is most associated with improving performance, strength and conditioning is of course hugely important but is also so closely interconnected with the other factors of Mental & Emotional Skills(link) and Nutrition & Lifestyle Management(link).
There are many different factors that want to be trained and the priority of each one will depend on the specific sport.
If I just run a few things off the top of my head…
- Stabilisation strength
- Aerobic Conditioning
- Anaerobic Conditioning
- General Injury Reduction work
It should be obvious from the above list that there is a lot to work on! The needs of the sport, including the time of the season, and also the needs of the individual athlete will clearly dictate the areas to emphasise at a given time but essentially, all areas want to be developed.
As an Accredited Strength & Conditioning Coach with the UKSCA, I am experienced in being able to plan training to achieve this.
Across this site, you will learn how to do this effectively.
