Mental & Emotional Skills Training has been called the difference that makes the difference and it is true that many a match has been won or lost between the ears. Quite often, when asked what are the things that ‘make a top performer’, many of the answers are mental in nature. It is almost as though physical conditioning is taken for granted, though obviously we understand that has to be worked at! How often do you hear pundits or commentators talk about a player being ‘mentally fatigued’, having ‘mental toughness’, someone ‘choking under pressure’, ‘losing concentration and therefore the match’?
In my experience, quite often this is a neglected aspect of Maximising Athletic Performance but a structured Mental Skills Training Programme can have a hugely beneficial impact on performance and will also carry over into other areas of your life.
