I am currently Head of Athlete Development at Halton Tennis Centre, an LTA High Performance Centre, an Accredited Strength & Conditioning Coach (ASCC) with the UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA), a Certified Tennis Performance Specialist and Performance Enhancement Specialist.
In my role of Head of Athlete Development, I oversee the Sports Science delivery within the Everyball Tennis Programme; this encompasses Strength & Conditioning, Mental & Emotional Skills Training and Nutritional & Lifestyle Management. It is a varied challenge which I thoroughly enjoy and look forward to every day.
I have been based at Halton Tennis Centre since 2007 and as such, have experience in training players of all ages, from 6 years old up to professional and am aware of the different needs that each age and stage have and what is required to train a player ‘from the cradle to the tour’! My own tennis-playing background and Coaching qualifications mean I am able to understand the sport well and can work closely with tennis coaches to understand a player’s needs.
I also have trained and currently train young athletes from other sports, such as basketball, rowing and rugby and like to explore the transferable aspects of training between all sports. I am committed to my own development and am of the opinion that you can never know enough so I look to regularly attend conferences and workshops to further my own knowledge, which I can then bring back to the athletes.
I also tutor for the LTA on the S&C component of the Coaching Courses, something I am proud to do.
